Position Title: Teacher Assistant (Kindergarten or First Grade)

Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $28,000–$35,000 depending on experience

Position Overview

East Voyager Academy of Charlotte is seeking a caring and dependable Teacher Assistant for Kindergarten or First Grade to support classroom instruction and help create a positive learning environment for young students. The ideal candidate will assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities, help students develop foundational academic and social skills, and provide support to ensure a safe and engaging classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities

• Provide small group or one-on-one support to students as directed by the teacher

• Help students develop early literacy, math, and social skills

• Support classroom management and maintain a positive and structured learning environment

• Assist with preparing instructional materials and classroom resources

• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other activities

• Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment

• Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student success

Qualifications

• High school diploma required

• Two years of college preferred

• Childcare experience required (school, daycare, camp, or similar setting)

• Ability to work effectively with young children in a classroom environment

• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

• Patient, dependable, and supportive with students

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an elementary school setting

• Experience supporting early literacy and math development

• Familiarity with classroom routines and behavior support strategies

• CPR/First Aid certification

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience and state guidelines. Benefits package available.
