Position Title: Martial Arts and Physical Education Instructor
Location: East Voyager Academy of Charlotte, 7429 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214
Reports To: School Principal
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $37,000–$50,000 depending on experience
Position Overview
East Voyager Academy of Charlotte is seeking a dedicated and energetic Martial Arts and Physical Education Instructor to support students in developing physical fitness, discipline, confidence, and respect through martial arts and physical education. The ideal candidate will provide engaging instruction that promotes healthy lifestyles, character development, and physical skill development for middle school students. This instructor will create a positive and structured environment that encourages teamwork, self-discipline, and personal growth.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging martial arts and physical education instruction for middle school students
Teach foundational martial arts techniques, forms, discipline, and safety practices
Promote physical fitness, coordination, strength, flexibility, and overall wellness
Supervise and lead structured physical activities, drills, and skill-building exercises
Foster a positive environment that emphasizes respect, perseverance, self-control, and teamwork
Ensure student safety during all activities and maintain appropriate supervision
Assess and monitor student progress and participation
Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement
Communicate with school leadership and collaborate with staff to support student success
Support school events, demonstrations, or extracurricular activities related to martial arts and fitness
Qualifications
Experience teaching children martial arts in a studio or school setting (required)
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field
Strong knowledge of martial arts techniques, training methods, and safety practices
Ability to work effectively with middle school-aged students
Strong classroom management and leadership skills
Commitment to promoting fitness, discipline, and character development
Preferred Qualifications
Martial arts black belt or advanced rank in a recognized discipline
Previous experience working in a school or youth program
Experience leading group fitness or physical education activities
CPR/First Aid certification
Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience and state guidelines. Benefits package available.
