Who is Cape Fear Center for Inquiry?
Cape Fear Center for Inquiry is the oldest charter school in Southeastern North Carolina. One of the first 100 charter schools, CFCI is a Kindergarten through 8th grade school with approximately 400 students located in Wilmington. At CFCI, we believe the whole child is more important than any single factor. Position Overview
The K-8 Technology Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality technology instruction aligned to the North Carolina Technology Standards while supporting the academic, digital, and ethical development of elementary and middle school scholars. This role builds foundational skills in digital literacy, computational thinking, creativity, and responsible technology use, while collaborating with classroom teachers and school leaders to integrate technology across the curriculum.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach the North Carolina Technology Standards for grades K–8 through engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with ISTE standards
- Design and deliver instruction in digital literacy, keyboarding, coding basics, multimedia creation, and responsible digital citizenship
- Develop and implement inquiry based-lesson plans aligned to grade-level standards, pacing guides, and school instructional priorities
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English language learners
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress toward mastery of technology standards and adjust instruction as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student learning, grades, and progress in accordance with school expectations
- Establish a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports positive behavior and student engagement
- Teach and reinforce responsible, ethical, and safe use of technology
- Maintain classroom routines and expectations that promote independence and accountability
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support technology integration across core subjects
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, expectations, and technology use
- Participate in loop level collaborative meetings, staff meetings and professional development
- Stay abreast of current technology tools and trends in order to support school wide technology integration and growth
- Comply with school policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership in support of the school’s mission and vision
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or a related field
- Valid North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for licensure
- Knowledge of the North Carolina Technology Standards and elementary and middle grades instructional practices
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Experience with learning management systems, educational software, and digital tools used in K–8 settings
- Knowledge of coding, programming, robotics, and/or 3D printing, and other STEM integrations
- Experience teaching technology at the elementary and/or middle school level
