Position Title: Food Services and Day Porter
Location: East Voyager Academy of Charlotte, 7429 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214
Reports To: School Principal
Position Type: Part-Time or Full-Time (based on role responsibilities)
Salary: $28,000–$38,000 depending on experience

Position Overview

East Voyager Academy of Charlotte is seeking reliable and hardworking Food Services and Day Porter to support daily cafeteria operations and maintain a clean, safe school environment. This position may be structured as part-time food services only or full-time combining food services and day porter responsibilities depending on the candidate and school needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to assist with both meal service and facility upkeep during the school day.

Responsibilities

Food Service Duties

• Assist with meal preparation, serving, and distribution for students

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the cafeteria and food preparation areas

• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines

• Track and record meal counts and basic food service data using computer systems

• Receive and organize food deliveries and supplies

• Support compliance with school nutrition program requirements

Day Porter Duties (for full-time role)

• Maintain cleanliness of hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and common areas during the school day

• Assist with basic custodial tasks such as trash removal, light cleaning, and restocking supplies

• Help maintain a safe and orderly school environment

• Respond to immediate cleaning or maintenance needs during school hours

• Support staff with basic facility needs or event setup when needed

Qualifications

• Experience in food service required

• Good computer skills for tracking meals and completing required documentation

• Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety

• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently

• Ability to work effectively in a school environment with students and staff

Preferred Qualifications

• ServSafe Certification preferred, or candidate must be willing to complete on-the-job training

• Previous experience in school food service or institutional food preparation

• Experience with basic custodial or facility support tasks

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience and state guidelines. Benefits package available.
