Position Title: Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher
 Location:  East Voyager Academy of Charlotte 7429 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214
 Reports To: School Principal
 Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

East Voyager Academy of Charlotte is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to support students in developing strong literacy skills. The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading and writing while delivering high-quality instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. This teacher will create a positive classroom environment that promotes academic growth, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging ELA instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study

  • Teach foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking/listening skills

  • Use data-driven instruction to differentiate learning and support student growth

  • Assess and monitor student progress regularly and maintain accurate records

  • Create a structured and nurturing classroom environment that supports student achievement

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress

  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in professional development

  • Support school-wide literacy initiatives and activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field

  • Must hold a current North Carolina teaching license in Elementary Education (K–6) OR be eligible and willing to obtain NC licensure

  • Strong understanding of literacy development and instructional best practices

  • Effective classroom management and communication skills

  • Commitment to professional growth and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous elementary teaching experience

  • Experience with structured literacy, phonics-based instruction, or evidence-based reading programs

  • Familiarity with North Carolina assessment and accountability standards

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience and state guidelines. Benefits package available.
