Endeavor Charter School is a K-8 public charter school located in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Our mission is to engage K-8 students by integrating a challenging, hands-on curriculum with multi-faceted fine arts courses in a familial environment.
The middle school teacher at ECS plays a crucial role in shaping the educational foundation and overall development of ECS’s middle school students. The middle school teacher’s responsibilities extend beyond teaching as they are entrusted with fostering a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Curriculum Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with state standards. Integrate technology, inquiry based instructional strategies, and interactive resources to enhance the hands-on learning experience. Build a literacy enriched curriculum using the NC standards. Guide a morning meeting group focused on character and citizenship.
Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, and consistently enforce classroom rules and procedures. Address disciplinary issues promptly and constructively, using positive reinforcement and conflict resolution strategies.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student learning through formative and summative methods. Analyze assessment data to inform planning. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, administrators and parents/guardians on academic progress and goals.
Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs and advanced learners. Collaborate with special education teachers, support staff, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other accommodations as appropriate.
Parent and Community Engagement: Establish open and effective communication channels with parents/guardians to keep them informed about their child's academic progress, behavior, and school activities. Encourage parental involvement through parent-teacher conferences, volunteer opportunities, and family engagement events.
Professional Development and Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to share ideas, resources, and strategies for improving student learning outcomes. Engage in reflective practice to evaluate and continuously improve teaching effectiveness and student engagement. Contribute ideas to a growing Social Studies department. Communicate and collaborate with grade-level team members to provide student support as needed. Ability to model professional and ethical behavior at all times.
Basic Qualifications Required:
Currently NC certified in Middle School Social Studies
Experience teaching Middle School Social Studies
Experience working with a community of educators, parents, and stakeholders to ensure academic and social-emotional growth
Preferred:
Certification and willingness to teach one block of World History starting in the 2026-27 school year
